Alexandre Silva
Alexandre Ferreira Silva (b. 1997) is a percussionist and performer deeply dedicated to the development of contemporary music. He has won recognition in various prestigious competitions. Notable achievements include the 2nd Prize at the 2023 Concours Nicati, a 3rd place at the 2019 Young Musicians Award for Percussion in Portugal, the 2020 Helena Sá e Costa award, and a 1st prize for Snare Drum at the 2017 Tomarimbando International Festival.

Additionally, Alexandre is a founding member of the contemporary percussion trio, RePercussion Trio. Within this trio, he collaborates with composers to craft innovative compositions while also showcasing his own original works inspired by various artistic objects. They have been recognised more recently in 2021 winning the Young Performers Award at the Póvoa de Varzim International Music Festival (FIMPV) and In 2018 when they won the 2nd Prize and best interpretation of a Portuguese piece at the CIMCA – "International Chamber Music Competition of the City of Alcobaça”.

With a diverse portfolio, Alexandre has collaborated and participated with many renowned festivals and musical groups, such as the Donaueschinger Musiktage, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Drumming GP, Portuguese Chamber Orchestra, Basel Sinfonieorchester, Camerata Variabile, Dresden Festival Orchestra and Neue Philharmonie München. He is a reinforcement for the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras. He was also selected to be a part of the Youth Portuguese Orchestra (JOP) in the 2014/2015 season.

Alexandre studied a master's degree in performance under the guidance of Christian Dierstein and a second master's degree in Contemporary and Pedagogy at the Musik-Akademie Basel. Prior to his studies in Basel, Alexandre graduated from the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo (ESMAE) in Porto, with Miquel Bernat and Manuel Campos.

In 2023, Alexandre received a scholarship from Fondation Nicati-de-Luze and Caris Fondation.
